Brady's Brilliance

Brady’s Brilliance began as a small journal, a place where I started capturing short stories and memories from my childhood growing up with my older brother Brady, who has Down syndrome. I wanted to remember the moments that made our family laugh, the lessons Brady unknowingly taught us, and the experiences that shaped who I am today.

But as I continued writing, something became clear: this story was never just about Brady or our family.  It was about the people who surrounded him.

​

Teachers who welcomed him into their classrooms, bus drivers who sang as he got on the bus, friends who included him, coaches, neighbors, classmates, and community members who saw beyond his differences and chose to see Brady for who he truly was, a person full of joy, humor, kindness, and a light that brightens every room he enters.Because of those people, Brady was able to shine in ways we never expected.

 

Brady’s Brilliance is a heartfelt tribute to the power of belonging. It’s a reminder that when communities choose inclusion, encouragement, and compassion, they help unlock the unique gifts within every person.

 

It also serves as a gentle challenge to all of us, families, schools, organizations, and communities, let us recognize and celebrate what makes each person unique.

Because true brilliance isn’t defined by grades, titles, or expectations.

It’s revealed in the way we lift one another up, and in the moments we create where someone finally feels seen, valued, and free to shine.
